assignment Admirals Can't Keep Up with Slugs

The Admirals again couldn't keep up with the hot slugging Banana Slugs, dropping game 1 of this Wednesday night doubleheader.

With the Admirals sign out sheet filled with black, team brass had to make roster moves to avoid the costly defaults. Falcons' Matty G made his Admirals debut, and diamond pickup Logan Kentner also saw Admirals playing time, his first since last season.

As the visiting team, the Admirals had scratched in 3 runs before a sharply hit grounder with runners on the corners resulted in an inning ending double play and $10 in team fines (IEDP+SR3B).

In the glaring sun of the Clarington Fields South East diamond, the Admirals watched the Slugs counter by plating a converted touchdown in the home half of the 1st.

After the Admirals scored two in top of the 2nd, the Slugs plated another converted touchdown to build their lead to 14-5.

A big fat goose egg by the Admirals in the 3rd followed by a Slugs five-spot, and this one was quickly getting away. 19-5 after 3 innings of play.

The Admirals were able to chip into their 2 TD deficit after winning the 4th inning 5-2.

A 3 up 3 down top of the 5th followed by a Slugs four spot and the Admirals were down 25-10 going into the 6th and umpire-called final open inning.

The huge Admirals comeback was just in the cards on this night, but the guys in black and blue did go down swinging, scratching in 7 runs before the final out was recorded.
