assignment Admirals Fall Short to Slugs

Playing a makeshift infield, the Admirals came up short in game 1 of this Monday night doubleheader versus the Banana Slugs.

With both Admirals' middle infielders signed out for the night, the Admirals made some infield moves that saw: Poutine as SS, Beatty at 2B and Morgan at 1B. Running out as the cutoff man to right field and trying to field balls hit to 2B, it was clear Morgan was pumped and trying to impress to play out from behind the plate.

The moves seem to work early as the Admirals held a 6-2 lead going into the 3rd, but after holding the Admirals to a singleton and responding with the 7 max runs, the Slugs took a 9-7 lead.

The Slugs built their lead to 6 after holding the Admirals to a run and scoring 3 in both the 4th and 5th innings.

In the 6th, sparked by a leadoff Beasty Beatty bomb, the Admirals scratched in 5 and held the Slugs to a singleton to get themselves within 2 going into the final open inning.

Unfortunately, the Admirals could not get any closer as the Slugs recorded the final 3 outs on 4 batters faced to make it a 14-16 final.

Boxscore:

Team 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Final
Admirals 1 5 1 1 1 5 0 14
Banana Slugs 0 2 7 3 3 1 X 16
