assignment Admirals Can't Keep Up with Combines

The Admirals sticks just couldn't keep up in game one of this Wednesday night doubleheader, as the Combines won it in run away fashion.

Things were looking promising early as the Admirals scored 6 in the top of the 1st inning, but all momentum on the night seemed to come to a grinding halt after the inning was ended on a Poutine out for stepping in front of the plate. There should be a fine for that!

In the bottom half, a 10-man Combines/Banana Slugs lineup scratched in 4 to cut their deficit to two.

After blanking the Admirals in the 2nd inning by an IEDP from the newest Admirals' first ever at bat in the CSP (cha-ching) and scoring another 3, the Combines took the lead. A lead they'd only build on.

A meaningless 3rd inning saw the teams swap 3 runs, and after holding the Admirals to another goose egg in the 4th the Combines countered with six to build a 16-9 lead.

In the 5th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, Dunner hit a ground ball to the 3rd baseman and somehow avoided hitting into a triple, let alone double play. While there's no team fine for hitting into a triple play, lord knows many would've been lobbying for a hefty one had it happened.

Seemingly eager to make a memorable impression with his new teammates, the newest Admiral rang the cash register again (!) in the following at bat (his 2nd ever in the CSP) by stranding Mike at 3rd with less than 2 outs to finish 2 for 2 for the game. That's 2 cha-chings in 2 at bats! Ada boy Jer! 🤑

In the end, the Admirals couldn't muster any runs in the 5th and allowed another 2 Combines to cross the plate before taking their at bats in the 6th.

After again swapping 3 runs in the 6th, the game was called by the umpire due to time to make the final 21-12 Combines.

Editor's Note: If there are errors in player stats, please cut our scorekeeper's inexperienced son some slack! I tried to piece together what I could based on what was there and not there.
