Despite Poutine's horrawful showing at the plate, the Admirals prevailed over the Village Inn to sweep their Wednesday night doubleheader.
Origin: Shaquille O'Neal
Definition: Horrible and awful mixed together.
Anyone who knows Mike, a.k.a. Poutine, a.k.a. McDreamy, a.k.a. Even Steven, a.k.a. Guy Who Poured Beer on Mum, knows that he loves to talk trash; not only with opponents, but with his own teammates.
After weeks of ribbing Duran about being the top Admiral in batting average and just last week bragging that he had NEVER stuck out as an Admiral during post-game bevies, the team brass decided to take advantage of his offensive prowess by moving him up from 11th to the pressure-packed 7th spot in the Admirals batting order.
Unfortunately, the move proved to be too much pressure for Poutine as he shockingly pooped the bed:
• Going 1 for 8 on the night
• Recording the first FK (cha-ching) of his illustrious Admirals career
• Plummeting his once team-leading batting average like the 1929 stock market crash
Possibly feeling bad for "running up the score" in the previous game, the Admirals were awfully generous to start this game, allowing 4 runs to cross the plate after giving their opponent a few extra outs.
In response, the Admirals would score 2, with Poutine recording the final out of the inning.
In the 2nd, the Admirals D tightened, allowing only a singleton and countered with 3 runs to tie the score at fives.
After allowing a Villager lead-off Connor in the 3rd, the Admirals escaped the inning without further damage and plated 4, highlighted by:
• A customary Beasty Beatty
• A BJ inside-the-park HR
• A Poutine FK
• Mark's first career triple as an Admiral, over his own son in right field
In the 4th, the Villagers scored another singleton but in the home half, an Admirals hit parade finally showed up, scoring the 7 max runs per inning on only a single (Poutine) out.
After allowing yet another singleton in the 5th, the Admirals were held in check going 3 down on 4 batters faced.
Surely inspired by shutting down the Admirals sticks, the Village People got to their savvy sticking ways (as they usually do) in the 6th, scoring 6, to cut their deficit to 2.
Needing a response, the first two Admirals batters were sat down in order and after a Morgan single, yet another Poutine out followed to kill any rally.
In the final 7th and open inning, the Admirals took the field facing the Villager 3-4-5 batters. After the Admirals sat down the 1st two Villager batters in order, another Connor followed to cut the Admirals lead to 1.
After the Villager Nate single that followed, the Admirals were fortunately able to record the final out to hold on to the win.
