The Admirals held off a 10-man Village Inn squad to sweep both games of their Wednesday night doubleheader.
With a late arriving JJ getting the Village Inners to a full squad, the Admirals knew this game would be tougher, as the speedy outfielder was sure to close up the larger gaps the Admirals sticks saw in game 1.
True to form, JJ showed his range on the Admirals first at bat, catching a deep fly ball that likely robbed Duran of his 3rd inside the park HR of the night.
Everyone in attendance could read Duran's WMSPL teammate and Admirals favourite Storm (Bob) thought bubble when JJ made the robbing grab: "Yes!!!!"
Singles by Graham and Mitch followed by a DC triple and the Admirals were on the board. A sharply hit ball by Jomo that resulted in a nicely turned 6-3 out by Villager Parks could've resulted in the first team fine of the night, but DC was able to trot home to save Jomo some dough.
Up next to bat, with "Yes!!!!" still tattooed in his thought bubble, was Bob. Most would agree that Bob is a humble and modest dude. Well what happened next must've been an out-of-body experience, because he twirled up to the plate with eyes locked on Duran after every twirl singing:
With all in attendance perplexed as to what that was all about, he finally stepped into the batter's box and launched the first pitch to right center screaming "beep beep" as he rounded the bases for his 2nd inside the park HR of the night, matching his WMSPL teammate's feat.
After Bob reached home safely, everyone in the Admirals dugout quickly looked over to Duran who looked to have "Noooooooo!!!!" tattoed in his thought bubble.
Whether true or not, this made up competition to be the Admirals favourite Storm is working out very well for the team. 👍
The Admirals took the field in the bottom half of the 1st holding a 4-0 lead, but that was quickly halved after Villager Clemmie golfed a mammoth 2 run to left. Thankfully for the guys in black and blue, that's all the Inners would score that inning.
In the 2nd, the Admirals were held in check scoring only 1 run on 5 batters sent to the plate, but countered nicely by posting a tasty donut in a 3-up-3-down inning.
The 3rd saw Duran leading off, and everyone knew what he had on his mind: "Gotta top Bob! Gotta top Bob!". Well he certainly tried, delivering a deep twisting shot that found the right center field gap. With "Arriba, arriba … andale, andale” visions of reaching home, he was smartly stopped at 3B. Sac-flied home next by Graham, and that's all the Admirals could score in the inning.
In the bottom half, the Admirals were able to limit the Village scoring to 2 which saw them hold a slim 6-4 lead.
Maybe inspired by the Admirals favourite Storm competition, an Admirals hit parade finally showed up in the 4th, which saw them score the 7 max runs per inning. But seems the competition inspired the Village Inners too as they got back 5 in the bottom half to keep it a ball game.
A relatively uneventful 5th, saw the Admirals win the inning 3-2 to increase their lead to 16-11.
In the 6th, after 2 lead off singles, the Villagers sat the Admirals down in order to prevent further damage.
Not sure who was scoring in the 6th - maybe they were rewarding Graham's new puppy for peeing on command - but all I can tell you is the Inners scored 3 runs in the inning, and the Villagers were found at fault of putting in their 8th courtesy runner (per rule, max is 6). Considering the struggle the limping batter faced to get to first, the Admirals did allow them to use the additional runner in the end. Some would say a surprisingly classy move, in light of the Admirals "perceived" umpire abusing ways. 😂
In the last inning, the Admirals had an oh-so-slim 16-14 lead, and started with back-to-back outs. Singles by Morgie, Mike, Dunner and BJ followed which allowed them to scratch in 2 more runs and pad their lead to an oh-so-not-so-comfortable 18-14 lead before the 3rd out was recorded.
After retiring the first Villager batter in the bottom half, the Inners managed to get 2 on, with Clemmie up to bat.
Clemmie almost delivered, smashing a deep shot to left center that was caught on the warning track by the Admirals favourite Storm (Bob). A Kyle single followed, which scored one, but the Admirals were able to retire the next batter that allowed them to hold onto the win.

After seeing last night's scores posted on the league web site, Jamie from Dbacks sent me a text thanking us for the wins (as it puts them solely in 2nd).
It's also come to my attention that the Dbacks have started a new dart league! 😱😂

I suggest a bet with the diamondbacks. Winners get to pick a player from the other team to shave his head. I’m pretty sure I know who the admirals will pick
