assignment Admirals Take Game 1 vs. Short Village Inn

Back from a two week scheduling hiatus, the Admirals got up early against a 9-man Village Inn squad, and cruised to victory in Game 1 of this Wednesday night doubleheader.

Arriving in his shiny new Storm coloured vette, Duran, still desperately trying to keep the Admirals favourite Storm (Bob) out of the lead off spot, again earned more merit by running like his new toy drives (fast!), leading off with an inside the park HR.

Some argued he rounded the bases faster than you can say: "Where's Mitch?", but I digress.

Inspired by what they had just witnessed, the Admirals went on to plate the new 7 max runs per inning in the top of the 1st without recording an out.

The Admirals D looked solid in the bottom half of the inning holding the Village People to a single run.

In the 2nd, the Admirals hit parade continued, plating 5 more runs but the Villagers responded vigilantly countering with 5 of their own.

After the Admirals scored 3 more runs in the 3rd, highlighted by another Duran "Arriba, arriba … andale, andale” inside the park HR (his 2nd of the game), the Village Inners scored another 5 to cut their deficit to 4.

A lead off single by Mike in the 4th, followed by back-to-back outs, and a little worry was starting to creep into the Admirals dugout.

Up to bat next was Bob, who was surely filled with anxiety wanting to remain the Admirals favourite Storm after watching his WMSPL teammate hit 2 inside the park HRs. Well Bob delivered, starting the two-out rally that lead to 5 more Admirals runs thanks to a BJ sac-clearing triple that eventually followed.

In the bottom half, can't say what happened seeing Graham was rewarding his new puppy for peeing on command (and not score keeping), other than the Admirals had held the Inners to 1 run.

Duran got the 5th going with a lead-off double, who was scored by a Graham single. Back-to-back outs, followed by a Jomo single that scored Graham, and up to bat next was Bob. You can almost read his thought bubble as he stepped up to the plate: "How am I going to remain the Admirals favourite Storm?!? Duran is 4 for 4 on the night, 2 inside-the-parkers, 4 runs scored, 4 RBI, he's got an awesome new car! Focus Bob, focus!!!" And focus he did, delivering a 2-run "beep, beep" inside the park HR of his own:

The 4 runs were all the Admirals could muster in the inning.

As the Admirals took the field with a 12 run lead, the umpire declared it would be the Villagers last at bats. Thankfully, the 12-run cushion was enough as the Admirals were able to record the 3rd and final out after allowing only 2 runs to score.
