Aaron capped off his historical Admirals rookie debut in style with another two home runs, the last in heroic fashion to walk off the 1st place Dodgers.
In game 2 of this Wednesday night doubleheader, the team lost Derek, who had some Z's to catch up on, but welcomed Darrell and Poutine. Darrell to play, Poutine to support (a.k.a. drink).
Having already impressed his new teammates with his ability at the plate (3 for 3, 2 HR, 6 RBI in his first game), Aaron took the opportunity to impress on the mound, inducing an FK and two foul-tipped balls to the catcher to keep the dad avoiding lads off the score sheet in the top of the 1st.
The Admirals sticks, still hot from game 1, responded by plating six to grab an early 6-0 lead.
After a lead off double in the 2nd, the next 3 Dodger batters were sat down in order. In response, the Admirals sent 5 batters to the plate, but couldn't manage to increase their lead.
In the 3rd, some Admirals generosity, combined with some clutch hits saw six Dodgers cross the plate and we were all tied up at 6 a piece.
Single, double, sac fly, double, single, double, single, fly out, (Aaron) home run (3rd of the night if you're counting), single, single, out, and the Admirals had scored 8 to take a 14-6 lead.
Unfortunately however, the 4th saw some more Admirals generosity combined with some clutch hits lead to them giving those 8 runs right back. All tied up again, now at 14 a piece.
In response, the Admirals could only muster two runs, giving them a slim 2-run lead.
In the umpire called last inning, the Admirals were able to escape only allowing 2 runs, which tied the score, and with the hammer, provided the opportunity for the walk off win.
With one out, Mark got it started with a double, who was replaced by Duran, the Admirals team pinch runner.
Dunner, licking his chops at the opportunity to be the hero by hitting a hard grounder between the big gaping hole between 1st base and 2nd, failed miserably by hitting said grounder right at the pitcher for the easy 1-3 out. 😩
With 2 outs, up swaggered Aaron. The mood was tense. So tense, most had tuned out Poutine's talking. 🤣
Forget now what the count was, but on a high inside pitch that most would've taken for a ball, Aaron swung and launched a towering moon shot that had everyone in attendance wondering, except for Aaron maybe, if it would have the legs to get over the fence.
After what felt like minutes for the ball to come down, it did, and the Admirals walked off victorious.
Way to make an impression Aaron! 5 for 6 on the night, 4 HRs, and 11 RBI!
After that performance, rumours are already rumbling that team brass will be moving Aaron up from last in the batting order to 8th or 9th. 🤣
