Even with services of NSP Vice-President Jamie "The Ball Crusher" Arsenault, the Combines were too tall a task for a half-Admirals squad, losing 13-17 in this Wednesday 9:15PM game.
With the Sign Out sheet filled in black (that means 7 sign outs for anyone counting), the Admirals called on the services of Durham Diamondbacks Jamie Arsenault to field 10 players.
In hind sight, one can't help but wonder if Jamie's willingness to play was because it provided a unique opportunity to scout his team's next opponent: the Admirals at 9PM tonight! 🤔
Anyway, I digress...back to the game...
When an expected Joe was MIA at game time, the Admirals faced the daunting possibility of having to play 3 outfielders against the potent Combines' bats. 😩
Thankfully however, the Combines graciously supplied a catcher. Thanks again Brad, you guys are good shit man!
In what was shaping up as a pitchers duel going into the bottom of the 3rd, the Combines, up only 2-1 at that point, awoke and took control of the game by plating 9 runs to go up by 10. The Admirals responded by putting up 5 in the top of 4, but gave those 5 right back in the bottom half of the inning that restored a 10 run deficit.
After being sat down in order in the 5th, the Admirals held the Combines to a sole run and returned to the dugout in the open umpire-called-last-inning in need of a serious hit parade to pull off a comeback.
While the effort was valiant, the comeback fell short as the Admirals could only plate 7 which made the final score a little more respectable.
