assignment Combines Too Much for Admirals

In game 1 of their Tuesday night doubleheader, the Admirals, missing a significant mainstay in their lineup, faced the league leading Combines.

Yes, with Poutine's name showing up on the Sign Out Sheet for the first time this season, many Admirals thought, some even hoped, it was yet another one of Pou's ways of making light of the friendly competition between he and #3DrinkTony for the 2018 Admirals Ironman award.

But to the dismay of those teammates, the injury report was confirmed when Pou showed up to the game in civvies and this dressing to cover up the boo-boo he suffered over the weekend:

Many are still speculating about Pou's account of how the injury occurred, but that's another story altogether...

Back to the game, things started well for the Admirals who sent 10 batters to plate in the top of the 1st to score 5.

Thanks to a 3-run bomb, things also started well for the Combines who scored 3 after sending their first 3 batters to plate. But that's all the Combines could muster as their next 3 batters were sat down in order, the last via a strike out.

In the 2nd, the Combines defense tightened, flashing some leather with some highlight reel plays and held the Admirals to 2 runs.

In their bottom half of the inning, the Combines sticks got hot, as they usually do, and put up a 7, to take a 10-7 lead.

Following that, the Combines proved to be too much for the Admirals on this night as they continued their defensive display, holding the Admirals to 2 runs over the following 3 innings, while tacking on another 8 insurance runs to make the final 18-9.
