In game 2 of their Wednesday evening doubleheader, the half-Admirals - half, because half their starters were signed out - faced the Ugly Ducklings, a team they've typically had troubles with, even with most their starters there.
The first inning saw the Admirals on the receiving end of the worst possible inning a team can have in the NSP: score none, and let in the 10-run-league-inning-max.
In the 2nd, the Ducks built on their lead by winning the inning 3-1.
The teams swapped a run in the 3rd to keep the Ducks lead at 12.
After another Admirals goose egg in the 4th, and 6 more runs by the Ducks, the Admirals faced a daunting 20-2 deficit going into the 5th.
Finally able to string some hits together, the Admirals plated 7 runs but were still down a field goal, a touchdown and 2 point conversion; a tall task in slo-pitch with the time limit looming.
Possibly in cruise control, the Ducks sticks were kept in check in their bottom half of the inning, scoring none.
The Admirals scored another 3 in the 6th while again holding the Ducks off the score board that saw them cut their deficit to single digits.
In the 7th, the Admirals could only muster 2 runs that made the final score (20-14) look a lot closer than it actually was.
Didn't take long for the guys to put these games behind them during post-game bevies as the team witnessed a 3 drink Tony for the first time. :)
