The half-Admirals - half, because half of their starters were signed out - took on The Pack in game 1 of their Wednesday evening doubleheader.
With an early 6:30PM game start, the stands were packed with more Admirals supporters than there were Admirals starters on this night.
The game started very Falcons-like with the Admirals unable to score a run in the first 2 innings.
Unfortunately for the guys in black and light blue, The Pack started very un-Falcons-like, plating 3 runs in the first, and the 10-run-league-inning-max in the 2nd to take commanding 13-0 lead.
In the 3rd, the Admirals were finally able to get on the board thanks to an Antonio inside-the-park solo home run, and a DC 2-run outside-the-park home run to cut their deficit to 10.
A small Admirals victory was felt after holding The Pack to a sole run in the bottom half of the inning that had the Admirals thinking perhaps this could be the inning where the tides could turn.
A TSN Turning point maybe?
No siree Bob! To their fans dismay, the Admirals rode that momentum by going 3-up-3-down.
In their bottom half of the 4th, The Pack tacked on 3 more runs, which could've been more after a 2-out 3-run home run was later called an out when the Admirals asked the ump if the batter had to touch 1st base before walking off his home run (which he did not).
Understandably, The Pack were upset by the call, but down two touchdowns, the Admirals were surprisingly content to get out of the inning.
Could this be the TSN Turning point the Admirals fans were hoping for?
Nope! Nodda! No way! While the Admirals were able to send 5 batters to the plate, they were again unable to score.
The Pack tacked on another 2 and in the umpire-called-last-inning, the Admirals could only muster 3 runs to make the final 19-6, their largest margin of defeat in franchise history.
No time to lick their wounds as the half-Admirals had an always-tough Ugly Ducklings on deck for game 2 of their doubleheader.
