assignment Admirals Take Battle of Pillagers
Thursday 7:45PM July 12th, 2018
In game 3 of their 3-day-4-game stretch, the Admirals took on the Pirates in a battle of pillagers in a 7:45PM game 1 of this Thursday night doubleheader.

With a short bench, the team called on the services of Admirals spare (and head coach of the Tornados, and father of Admirals rookie Morgan, and king of one liners) Steve, who was able to make his debut with the team.

As the team was taking the visitor's dugout, a VERY unusual question was being asked by several Admirals: "Where's Jomo?!?"

Seeing the team was playing with a short bench, and more importantly, Jomo was water boy on this night, the team had obvious reason for concern. But as reliable as that asshole at work who says, "Is it Friday yet?", on a Monday morning, a groggy looking Jomo showed up just minutes before the game started stating: "Sorry guys, had a nap!"

A groggy looking DC followed shortly behind, which had many asking if the two had napped together, with everyone knowing who the big spoon was (or ladle as Goodwin would point out).

With a full 10 now in attendance, the game was on...

Not sure if it was contagiousness from Jomo and DC's grogginess or if the team was just tired from playing the previous two nights, but the Admirals sticks were flatter than this swimsuit model to start the game, as they only managed to plate a modest 4 runs over the first 3 innings.

Thankfully, with a couple of guys flashing some leather in some uncustomary infield positions, the Admirals D was pretty solid, holding the Pirates to 4 runs over those same 3 innings that made for a 4-4 tie going into the 4th.

In need of a spark, a late arriving Grambo sauntered in asking boyishly: Can I play?

Nearing the bottom of the batting order, the timing was perfect, as Graham was inserted into the order and eventually came up with 2 outs with a runner on 3rd and provided the spark the team needed, as they went on to put up a 5-run 2-out rally to make the score 9-4.

After some defensive reshuffling, the Admirals were able to shut down the Pirates in their home half to keep their 5-run lead.

A 10-run-league-inning-max, capped by a Poutine triple, followed and the rout was on.

The Pirates managed to plate another run in their home half of the then umpire-called-last-inning, to make the final 19-5.

No time to celebrate as the team had to move to the NE diamond for game 2 of their doubleheader.

How I didn't know I dawned so many hats. I'll be honest when I got the call up from Ammirals I felt a little excited and scared at the same time this was my shot to impress the big club and perhaps get called up again when the rosters expand to 14 players. My main focus was to learn my new pitcher staff and call a good game, well it was pretty clear right away Mike and I were on the same page I would call for inside he would throw outside I would call for a high fastball he would throw a sinker. And once the closer Antoina a.k.a The Kid came is was simple fastball fastball fastball game over.

I'm glad I was able to help out and enjoyed meeting everyone for first time and others once again, back on the bus to Ajax for more AAA action and the hopes of anothe call up

Mitch (what’s the odds he ever reads this???),

I agree with Poutine. We need to ensure the team is properly hydrated prior to the first pitch. You need to continue the tradition/streak of the water boy being in the parking lot AT LEAST 30 minutes before the first game with ice cold beverages.

Don’t be that guy who lets the team down!
