The Admirals and Village Inn got back at it for Game 2 of the A semi finals on this Wednesday 9:15PM game.
Eerily comparable to Game 1, as the Admirals were getting set to take their at bats, there was a similar, yet very familiar, question being asked amidst the resounding sound of cash registers: Where's Tim?
Thinking perhaps Tim misunderstood the humour in yesterday's game recap, Dunner kept checking his phone expecting texts from Tim to the likes of:
But the texts just never came...
Having no time to dwell, some quick offensive substitutions were made that saw Antonio in the vacated lead off spot and Mike where Antonio was due to hit in the 2 spot.
Unfortunately, the hurried moves proved to be ineffective as Antonio's lead-off walk was followed by a Mike grounder that resulted in a double play.
Undeterred, a mini-two-out rally ensued that netted the Admirals 2 runs.
In the home half, the Admirals managed to escape a bases-loaded-no-out scare allowing only one run to cross the plate to win the inning.
In the 2nd, the Village Inners held the Admirals to a donut highlighted by a 6-4-3 double play from another Labrecque hit ball.
In their bottom half, the Village Inn sticks broke out for 4 runs, and took a 5-2 lead going into the 3rd.
The Admirals managed to get 2 back in the top of the 3rd to cut their deficit to 5-4.
Sometimes, something incredible happens right before your eyes. When it starts, you don't even realize it's happening. But when you do realize it's happening, you just sit back in awe and marvel.
I guess the team should've known something great was about to happen when newly inserted pitcher, Paul, changed his jersey and took the mound sporting this wife beater -------->
3 up 3 down later, the Admirals sticks finally got going posting a snowman in the 4th.
3 up 3 down later, the Admirals plated another run in the 5th to pad their lead 13-5.
3 up 3 down later, the Admirals busted open for another 6 to take a comfortable 19-5 lead into the bottom of the umpire-called-last-inning.
3 up 3 down later, the Admirals had sealed the win.
With the win, the Admirals move on the face the #1 seed Combines in a best 2 out of 3 series for the A Championship.
Paul "3 up 3 down" Labrecque who had a perfect pitching performance: 12 up, 12 down, closing the game on a swinging strike out.
Graham "Grambo" Duncan for going 4 for 4 on the night, with 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Antonio "Fit 4 Life" Silva for going 3 for 3 on the night, with a walk, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Tim: $20 (no show; no sign-out)
