In the first game of the semis, the Admirals took on a Village Inn squad on this Tuesday night 9PM game.
As the team took the field, there was one question being asked amidst the resounding sound of cash registers: Where's Marty?
A quick defensive substitution, and the game was on.
Having last played almost 3 weeks ago, a generous Admirals defense looked a little rusty, allowing the Village Inners to plate 3 runs in the first inning.
When the team got back to the dugout, they learned of Marty's whereabouts from 9:04PM texts to Dunner:
With that question finally answered, the Admirals could get back to playing ball.
Thankfully, the 3 week hiatus didn't affect the Admirals' sticks as they plated 4 of their own to win the inning.
In the 2nd, the Admirals generosity continued, this time allowing the Village Inners to score 4 runs to take a 7-4 lead.
In the bottom half of 2, a combination of Village Inn generosity and timely hits by the Admirals allowed them to bat through the order and plate 8 runs highlighted by an inside-the-park HR by Duran.
The Admirals D finally showed in the 3rd and 4th holding their opponent to 1 and no runs respectively.
Offensively, the Admirals scored another 7 runs over that span which saw them take a 19-8 lead going into the umpire-called-last-inning.
Never ones to lay down, the stingy Village Inn bats got going again and plated another 4 runs to make the final 19-12.
No time to celebrate, as these two teams get back at it tonight in Game 2 of the series.
Duran "Why does my jersey look different?" Spray who went 3 for 3 on the night with a double, a home run, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored (5 if you count the ones he ran for Ryan).
Dave "I ALSO Bring Snacks When I'm Water Boy" Carter for going 3 for 3 on the night, with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Marty: $20 (no show; no sign-out)
The team fund sincerely thanks you for your contributions! :)
