There must've been an infielder's convention during tonight's double header, as the entire starting Admirals infield was signed out except for Graham "I wouldn't miss an Admirals game for anything" Duncan.
Consequently, the Admirals again found themselves calling on (or shall I say relying on...more on that in a bit) the services of reserves.
This time, they got see Duran "I'll come in the Storm mobile" Spray and John "First Round is On Me" Catoul make their Admirals debut on a night that saw the team bank a record $45 in team fines!
With Tim MIA again [INSERT SOUND OF CASH REGISTER HERE], the game started with both teams posting donuts in the 1st inning.
In the 2nd, the Admirals held the Dbacks to another donut and thanks to some well placed hits into the sun, broke out for 7 runs.
Unfazed, the dapper Dbacks responded defiantly plating 6 runs of their own to narrow their deficit to 1 going into the bottom of 3.
In what was looking to be an admirable Admirals response to the Dbacks defiant response, the Admirals were limited to 3 runs after a questionable call that saw Graham eventually called out on a trapped ball by the left centre fielder. Amidst the confusion by the delayed controversial call, the apologetic ump returned the runners at 1B and 3B to their bases, which took a run off the board and eventually stymied the Admirals from scoring more in the inning.
The Admirals blanked the Dbacks in the 4th and 5th and plated 5 more runs over that span thanks in large part to a Duran three run inside-the-park-home-run to make the score 15-6 going into the 6th.
In the 6th, the Dbacks plated 3 more runs which were all for not witt the time limit looming and the Admirals home-team-at-bats still outstanding.
Statistical Shout Outs
Duran "I'm coming in the Storm mobile" Spray had a fantastic Admirals debut at the plate, going 3 for 3, 5 RBI, 3 runs scored, and was a single shy of the cycle.
John "First Round is On Me" Catoul also had a fantastic Admirals debut going 3 for 3, 2 RBI, 2 (should have been 3) runs scored.
Sean "GM of the Year" Dunn, not for his personal performance, but for calling on the right reserves. Here's the statistical comparison of core players vs. reserves for this game:
|8 core players:||31||13||0.419||0.612||8||10||2|
Tim: $20 (no show; no sign out)
Jay G: $15 (K, swinging)
Jomo: $5 (stranding a runner at 3B with less than 2 outs)
