assignment Admirals Keep Winning Streak Going
Wednesday 9:00PM June 14th, 2017
In game 2 of what should've been game 1 of their Wednesday evening double header, an energetic Admirals squad, still pumped from its walk-off win in game 1, faced the Zephyrs.

Must've been Dean Kirkey bobble head day at the park (or his family was in the stands) because he had himself quite the game at the plate and in the field.

To start, Dean pounded his first hit of the game over the right field fence, which gave the Admirals a 3-0 lead after the first inning. As he walked off the field after rounding 2nd, all everyone could hear were his kids, not knowing HRs can be walked off in slo-pitch, frantically yelling at him to keep running (and touch 3rd and home).

In the top of the 2nd, he made a spectacular head first (which his older son later called a made-for-TV) diving catch in right-center to make the final out of the inning to keep the Zephyrs off the scoreboard for the 2nd consecutive inning. Sorry Luke, that was no made-for-TV-diving catch! Give your pop's the props he deserves! :)

With his wife Cindy watching him run off the field, everyone could see the throbbing hearts in her eyes as he got high-fives from all his teammates and Poutine's panties thrown at him with admiration.

Anyway, I digress...back to the game...

The Admirals D held the Zephyrs to donuts in the following 2 innings, and after plating several runs, they shifted gears to station-to-station ball. Except for superstar short stop Graham who either missed that memo or is going for the team triples record.

The Zephyrs wound up plating 5 runs in the top of the last inning where mop-up pitcher and Best. 3B. Ever. Ryan got some much needed time on the mound after not seeing it since spring training.

Final score...19-5.

Statistical Shout Outs

Dean "I Play Better When My Family Is Here" Kirkey went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

David "I Can Dunk on 9' Rims" Carter went 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs and a NEAR home run that nearly saw him being thrown out at 1B.

Alberto "the Cuban Sensation" Lopez again went 2 for 2 at the plate, this time scoring twice with one RBI, resulting in an overall 4 for 4 performance at the plate on the night.

Paul "Yes, Unfortunately Poutine is My Brother" Labrecque went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

Jason "I Also Bring Snacks When I'm Waterboy" Whyte appears to have come out of his slump also going 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

Marty "Vacuum At 1B" Robertson also went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

Team Fines:
Dunner: $5 (stranding a runner at 3B with less than 2 outs)
Jay G: $5 (stranding a runner at 3B with less than 2 outs)
Poutine: $5 (nearly missed this one...getting thrown at 2B after taking off on a shallow fly ball with one out, causing an inning ending double play)

The team fund sincerely thanks you for your contributions!
