assignment Admirals Defeat a Hard Popular Cement Team
Tuesday 9:00PM May 16th, 2017
In game two of their double header, the Admirals took on a tough St. Mary's Cement squad.

Before the game started, hundreds of fans (or so it seemed) started piling into the stands and lining up lawn chairs in rows on the Admirals side of the diamond to watch the game.

Thinking perhaps word of their fortunate start in the NSP was spreading, the Admirals quickly realized the admiration was for their opponent, as they watched each and every one of those fans move and re-align their rows of lawn chairs to St. Mary's side of the diamond by the time the first pitch was thrown.

Anyway, I digress...back to the game...

St. Mary's jumped out to a quick 3 run lead in the top of the 1st thanks to a 3-run-oppo-taco-no-doubt-line-drive-that-landed-near-the-top-of-the-hill home run by their cleanup hitter. Yeah, looks like he's done that before! :)

But the Admirals D was able to shut down any further scoring by the Cement attack.

With some timely and well placed hits, the Admirals answered with 3 of their own in their bottom half of the inning to even the score at 3 a-piece.

After allowing 2 more runs in the top of the 2nd, the Admirals cemented their opponent to delicious donuts in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings while plating 10 runs over than span to build an 8 run lead after 5 innings.

Even when up by 8, this game felt so close! The Admirals, the hundreds in attendance (or so it seemed), even the ump sensed it! This St. Mary's squad was ready to explode for a huge inning.

The top of the 6th brought the heart of the cement order to the plate and exploded they did, plating 4 runs before you could say cement mixer! Seriously! Those guys skated around the base pads arguably faster than our own Tim does! (And yes, SLF, faster than you! :-P)

But thanks to another solid defensive outing, the D eventually prevailed as the Admirals went on to close this game 15-9.

Much respect for this St. Mary's Cement squad; not just because they appear to be NSP's most beloved slo-pitch team, but because of the talent in their lineup and the great sportsmanship displayed.

Special thanks to Bob for helping us with the lights.
